What is the promise of Kantian aesthetic thought for the art community in Iran?

How Immanuel Kant’s “Critique of Judgment” could be read in the context of Iranian contemporary art and society?

Our answer to these questions is simple: in Kant’s own text, and of course, in how to read and interpret it.

Thus, our first idea is a careful and deliberate reading of Critique of Judgment, often called the Third Critique, with simultaneous reference to the source material and to trilingual translations of the book in Persian, French and English.

The necessity of referring to the translations is the comparison between the methods of self-construction of Kant’s text (the practice of creating one’s own reading).

During this interactive course, which will be held for 12 weeks (24 sessions), the participants (7 to 10 people) must actively attend to take part.

They will get to know the topics related to art and philosophy and the Kantian legacy on modern and contemporary art.

Saleh Mousavi Khalkhali, our research director, is post-doctoral researcher in the philosophy of art at the University of Louvain in Belgium, who will run this course from Belgium.

This will help participants to be informed of the state of the current researches in the field of the philosophy of art.
